Dr. Carey Ertz's interest in medicine began when she was very young. As a little girl, her family would tell her stories of an uncle who sustained life-threatening injuries from a fire. Through meticulous care by dedicated medical professionals at a burn center, Dr. Ertz's uncle survived. This story set off Dr. Ertz's desire to help people. Armed with encouragement from family and teachers, she planned on one day pursuing the field of medicine.
Dr. Ertz went on to attend medical school at Des Moines University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. She later completed her residency training at the Lincoln Medical Education Partnership. Today, she is a family medicine doctor at Methodist Physician's Clinic.
In providing exceptional patient care, Dr. Ertz believes it is necessary to implement a team approach. Her mission is to develop a partnership with her patients in order to help them make the best decisions for their situations. She also believes in treating the patient as a whole, providing all the information possible to achieve better health together.
In her free time, Dr. Ertz enjoys spending time with her family. She stays busy outside of the office caring for her two young sons. She also frequently has reunions with her extended family in Iowa where they will converse about their favorite topic: the Iowa Hawkeyes.

This was a visit to establish care, and I brought a concern to this doctor that I had never seen before. She listened to me and gave me treatment options that other doctors did not give me before. I really felt heard and seen by this doctor.
